Statement of work (SOW)

A statement of work is the contractual document defining exactly what a vendor will deliver, including scope, deliverables, timeline, and acceptance criteria.

The SOW is where scope is won or lost. Vague deliverables and missing acceptance criteria become change orders; specific, testable deliverables protect the buyer. Treat the SOW, not the sales deck, as the source of truth.
